Denée Barr ~ Award Winning Multimedia Artist, Photographer~Videographer, Vocalist, Philanthropist, Innovator Strategist ~ I earned a Maryland State Arts Council Individual Artist Grant for artistic excellence in photography, Howard University Solo International Vocalist Competition 1st Place Award, and my mixed media works are in many private and public collections including the "Heart of DC" : Wilson Building City Hall Permanent Art Collection and the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities Public Art Collection. My fine art photographs have toured on exhibit in the UK via the Ikon Gallery of Birmingham, England and the eastern Caribbean with presentations archived at the American Folklife Center, the Library of Congress, and the Organization of American States. I believe art, culture, and music can move people forward with a greater sense of community, wellness, and appreciation for our humanity. Note: The Tree of Life sculpture, commonly referred to as the “People Tree”, is the symbol of Columbia, Maryland. The People Tree is located along the bank of Lake Kittamaqundi. The 30 foot sculpture was created in 1967 by French artist Pierre du Fayet.
