Church Wedding, Union Island, St. Vincent and the Grenadines debuted (1999) in an exhibition entitled "Personal Photographs and Intimate Moments by Denee Barr" at the Artists' Gallery in Columbia, Maryland. This mostly sold out collection was also on exhibit (2000) at the Slayton House Gallery in Wilde Lake Village Green, Columbia, Maryland. Both of these exhibition showings were reviewed in the Arts section (front pages) of the Washington Post Howard County (1999) and the Baltimore Sun Howard County (2000).

William Christenberry
Hale County, Alabama
Born 1936
This past Tuesday, April 3rd, I had the pleasure of meeting Washington, DC based photographer William Christenberry in a lecture sponsored by the Maryland Institute College of Art, Graduate Studies Department in Baltimore.
Christenberry is also on faculty at the Corcoran College of Art + Design. I've already seen his wonderful art installation (July 1, 2006 - July 7, 2007) at the Smithsonian American Art Museum entitled Passing Time: The Art of William Christenberry. Don't miss seeing Christenberry's photographs, sculpture, building constructions, paintings and drawings.......what a treat!
William Christenberry's photos are also in the "Heart of DC" John A. Wilson Building Public Art Collection which is on permanent exhibition and is a must see when you are touring Washington, DC. My photos as you know are also in the Wilson Building Art Collection, 3rd floor east. After the lecture at the Maryland Institute College of Art, William Christenberry graciously autographed my Wilson Building Art Collection catalogue. His photo "Red Building in Forest" appears on page 49. And my Kent Island, Maryland photos appear on page 53.
John Paul Caponigro
Boston, Massachusetts
Born 1965
Yesterday afternoon and into the evening, I had a very enjoyable visit at the University of Maryland College Park (in the 1980's my own stomping grounds by the way, originally as an engineering student then I transferred to the department of radio, television, film and video finally went back in the 1990's to study printmaking and papermaking in the art department). I was there to attend a digital printing seminar and artist lecture by renowned visual artist/digital photographer "whiz kid" John Paul Caponigro. The American Society of Media Photographers DC Chapter (ASMP DC) sponsored this event. What I like about John Paul Caponigro who produces exquisite digital imagery of places like Antartica (South Pole) is that he is dedicated to fostering the growth of creativity in other artists through his lectures and workshops around the country. I sat there during his lecture inspired like the other audience attendees. Thank you John!
Lorna Simpson
Brooklyn, New York
Born 1960
Straight out of Brooklyn, Lorna Simpson will be "in the house" today at the University of Maryland College Park. The UMCP Art Department is hosting a visit and talk by Lorna Simpson as part of their Spring 2007 Visiting Artist Lecture Series, an ongoing and active program that engages some of the contemporary art world's brightest thinkers through public lecture and interaction. Be there ......... 5pm, Wednesday, April 11th Room 2309 Art/Sociology Building and hear directly from this multi-talented photographer, filmmaker, and videographer who currently has an art installation Lorna Simpson at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City (March 1 - May 6, 2007). For those of you who are New York City based The Whitney Museum of American Art has a series of outstanding photo lectures lined up from April 14th-April 26th. I'd go check those "cutting edge" photo art talks if I were you while you are checking out Lorna Simpson's artwork. Send me your regards and let me know what I'll be missing.........
Calling all photography enthusiasts and art aficionados get out and enjoy some great photo art!

Medium: c-print
Four Images from my photo series "Seeing Color in Black and White: Oxford Streets" were selected to exhibit in the Ikon Gallery Touring Exhibitions May 1995 - May 1996 through the Midlands region in England. "Propped Bicycle, 1992" (see above) also graced the six exhibition catalogue as the front cover. My photos were shown in the "Everyday Stories" installation (twenty works, 5 artists paintings and photography) and I was the only artist to represent the United States. The Ikon Gallery is located in Birmingham, England and is one of Europe's premier venues for showing conceptual based modern art.
