Denée Barr will be performing in Artscape 2015 on Saturday, July 18th ~ SoundNest @ Lazy River from 1-2 pm in Pearlstone Park, Preston Street at Cathedral Street Baltimore, Maryland! Come Join Us ~ Lazy River (visual and performing arts) will create an active environment, a community of Lazy River villagers if you will, existing amongst artist-designed freestanding sculptural elements, water-propelled contraptions, props, site-specific and/or participatory installations, rides, mini-stages, and photo-ops. This environment will be accented by the appearance of live performers interacting with Artscape-going adults and children alike as they traverse the area encompassed and have fun! Artscape is America's largest free arts festival, attracting 400,000+ attendees over three days. Artscape features 150+ fine artists, fashion designers and craftspeople; visual art exhibits on and off-site, including exhibitions, outdoor sculpture, art cars, photography and the Janet & Walter Sondheim Prize; incredible live concerts on outdoor stages; a full schedule of performing arts including dance, opera, theater, film, experimental music and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra; family events such as hands-on projects, demonstrations, competitions, children's entertainers and street theater; and a delicious, international menu of food and beverages that is available throughout the festival site. Imagine turning down a small alley in the middle of the city. Suddenly, nestled among Baltimore-style row homes, you come upon a wide-open expanse with a big yard. Set back off the alley is a modern, spacious, ranch-style building with clean lines and a stone facade. This building would be pleasing if you saw it in California. In the middle of Butchers Hill, it is quite surprising. This is the live-work space of gallery owner and artist Maxine Taylor. The open floor plan features Taylor’s first-floor gallery and a second-floor studio/gallery/living quarters. The gallery exhibits works by Taylor and other prominent regional artists. 126 N. Vocalist Denée Barr and her band will offer a program of jazz, pop, R&B, and Disney tunes focused on the theme of Ocean, Water, and Land. The band includes Delandria Mills (flute), Liz Fixsen (keyboard), Ann Marlowe (bass), and Arielle Miller (drums) - an all female band and also includes dance featuring Randi Woods introducing Talia Hankins with visual art by Anna DeBose-Hankins in recognition of Women's History Month.
